Position: Head of Optometry

Job description:
Reporting to the General Manager, the person hired will be in charge of the following:
- Establish, grow, and oversee FM Optometry Clinics throughout the country
- Create and regularly update the Optometry Division’s strategy
- Act as the registered optometrist in charge in line with registration requirements
- Work with ophthalmologists and other specialists to provide services at FMHS centers
- Make sure all optometry units comply with rules set by HPA, RZ, City Council, and other relevant authorities
- Advise on the purchase, setup, calibration, and upkeep of optometry equipment
- Develop standard operating procedures and clinical guidelines for the Optometry Division
- Carry out full eye exams, identify issues, prescribe corrective lenses or treatment
- Review test results and design or apply management plans
- Prescribe, provide, fit, and adjust spectacles, contact lenses, and other visual aids
- Educate and counsel patients on eye care, contact lens use, workplace lighting, and factors affecting eye health
- Liaise with and refer patients to ophthalmologists or other healthcare providers when needed
- Prescribe therapeutic procedures to help restore or improve vision
- Provide vision therapy and low vision rehabilitation services
- Organize outreach programs and handle other official duties as assigned

Candidate requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Optometry
- Valid practicing certificate
- Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in a hospital or eye clinic
- Strong business understanding
- Excellent clinical and diagnostic skills in optometry
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities
- Attention to detail
- Commitment to high ethical standards
- A postgraduate qualification in Business Administration or Project Management is an added advantage
- Prior experience setting up an Optometry Clinic is an advantage
