Research and Energy Efficiency Engineer

- Organization: Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority, a statutory body that regulates the energy sector to ensure safe, reliable and sustainable supply
- Position: Research and Energy Efficiency Engineer
- Reporting line: Reports to the Chief Engineer Electricity

- Main duties for the role:
- Plan and oversee energy efficiency projects and programs run by ZERA or other institutions
- Help create energy efficiency codes, standards, regulations and management systems
- Find, study and run pilot projects to promote new energy efficiency technologies
- Enforce minimum energy performance standards and manage related regulations
- Help design and carry out energy research projects, and independently review and choose proposals
- Coordinate research and development activities in the energy sector
- Advise and educate consumers and license holders on efficient energy use
- Prepare and distribute materials to raise awareness about energy efficiency
- Organize and run energy efficiency seminars, workshops, campaigns and exhibitions across the country
- Support energy data analysis and reporting

- Qualifications and experience needed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience, with at least 2 years at mid-management level in energy, energy management or intensive energy use
- Certification as a Certified Energy Manager or Certified Energy Auditor is required
- Strong knowledge of energy efficiency and energy management
- Experience in project management and research skills
- Ability to work well with other professionals in the field
- Skills in data analysis and reporting
- Good communication skills, both written and spoken
- A Master’s degree in a related field is an advantage
