Lab Supervisor

We are recruiting an experienced Lab Supervisor for the Laboratory team at Mutapa Gold Resources – Silobela. The position reports to the Lab Assayer.

The job involves managing the laboratory operations. Key tasks include:
- Organizing and scheduling incoming mine samples.
- Prioritizing samples according to operational needs such as ore grade control or exploration.
- Ensuring proper sample handling and documentation.
- Overseeing daily lab activities like crushing, pulverizing, and fire assay procedures.
- Keeping assay results accurate and consistent to support production decisions.
- Implementing and monitoring quality control measures including blanks, standards, and duplicates.
- Reviewing and validating assay results before they are sent to departments.
- Preparing detailed reports for geologists, metallurgists, and mine planners.
- Managing lab staff, assigning duties, and monitoring performance.
- Training technicians in assay methods, safety procedures, and equipment use.
- Complying with SHEQ standards and ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, and other relevant legal frameworks.

Requirements for the role are:
- Minimum 5 O Levels with Mathematics and English.
- National Diploma in Metallurgical Assay or related laboratory sciences.
- Knowledge of mineral assay techniques including fire assay, wet chemistry, and instrumental analysis.
- Familiarity with ISO 17025:2017 laboratory quality management standards.
- At least 3 years of postgraduate experience.
