Production Geologist

An experienced Production Geologist at Mutapa Gold Resources – Silobela.

Job summary
The company wants a skilled Production Geologist to join the Technical Services team, reporting to the Technical Services Manager.

Key duties
- Perform detailed underground mapping of reef levels, rock contacts, structural features and alteration zones.
- Keep geological maps and sections up‑to‑date to reflect current underground conditions.
- Oversee sampling procedures and ensure proper channel, chip and development face sampling is done.
- Carry out quality checks on the geological database in the software used.
- Prepare and distribute geological reports to the relevant people.
- Manage drilling and core sampling activities.
- Enforce QA/QC steps for assay data, including sample duplicates and standards.
- Implement strict control of ore extraction to improve grade and reduce waste.
- Produce daily, weekly and monthly geological reports on ore production, grade matching and risk assessments.
- Match actual mined grades and tonnages with geological block models and resource estimates.
- Work with mine planners and engineers to design optimal stopes based on geological information.
- Find and evaluate new mining blocks and possible extensions of ore zones.
- Spot geological risks that could affect safety, ore recovery or operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with SHEQ standards and ISO 14001:2015 & ISO 45001:2018 regulations.

Candidate requirements
- Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Geology.
- Postgraduate qualification in Applied Geology, Economic Geology or Structural Geology is a plus.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in production geology in a conventional narrow‑reef underground gold mining setting.
