Systems Administrator

Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) is a statutory organization that works to ensure safe, reliable and sustainable energy supply through regulation. It is looking for a highly skilled professional to fill the Systems Administrator position, which reports to the ICT Manager.

The job involves keeping ZERA's ICT systems running securely and reliably by managing server infrastructure, virtualization platforms and data centre operations. Main tasks include:

- Managing and optimizing server environments (physical and virtual), including Active Directory, Group Policy and print services.
- Monitoring system performance, fixing hardware or software problems, and overseeing the data centre.
- Setting up strong backup and disaster recovery procedures and handling user access rights.
- Handling hardware and software life cycles such as installations, patches and configuration updates.
- Working with the Network Administrator on infrastructure planning and documentation.

The ideal person is a proactive technical expert with solid experience in enterprise infrastructure and high‑availability systems.

Academic requirements: a bachelor's degree in Information Communication Technology, Computer Science, or related field. A postgraduate qualification or professional certification like MCSE, VCP, or CCNP is an advantage. Minimum 3 years of progressive ICT experience in systems administration or related roles.

Technical skills needed:

- Proficiency in managing enterprise‑grade server administration and virtualization platforms such as VMware or Microsoft Hyper‑V.
- Experience with SAP systems.
- Strong troubleshooting ability to diagnose and solve complex network, server and application issues.
