Deputy Head

Whitestone School in Bulawayo is looking to fill the Deputy Head position by the end of 2026.

Whitestone is a Christian co‑educational institution with about 500 pupils aged 4‑12. It belongs to the Association of Trust Schools (ATS) and the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa (ISASA). The school emphasises strong academic results and a wide range of extracurricular activities like music, art and sport to foster the full development of each child. It follows the Cambridge Curriculum and blends new teaching methods to give children enriched learning experiences. The environment values professionalism and dedication among staff, creating a caring atmosphere where every child is seen as unique and given chances to realise their potential. The school also fully implements a Heritage Based Curriculum.

Applicants need a recognised education degree plus a teaching qualification, with at least 10 years of teaching experience in an ATS school. Prior leadership experience as a Head of Department or Senior Teacher is required. The ideal candidate should:

- understand and appreciate a whole‑school, holistic curriculum;
- be able to lead effectively alongside the headmaster in both academic and extracurricular areas as part of a dynamic management team;
- motivate staff and grasp the school’s vision, ethos and educational principles;
- give feedback and communicate well with colleagues, parents and pupils in daily deputy‑head duties.
