Role purpose
The chaplain acts as a spiritual advisor and emotional supporter for bereaved families and friends, focusing on dignified funeral services and guiding the funeral process.
Key responsibilities
- Provide client care, manage funeral arrangements and drive business growth.
- Seek new business to meet revenue goals.
- Treat clients with respect and introduce families to the funeral consultant.
- Oversee funeral preparations to ensure the deceased is properly presented.
- Inform families about service changes and arrange alternative treatments if needed.
- Facilitate family viewing sessions before services.
- Manage chapel programs and schedules to prevent disruptions.
- Offer spiritual guidance and emotional comfort to grieving families without designated preachers.
- Create a supportive environment for family members and answer questions about the deceased.
- Visit staff facing hardship to provide encouragement.
- Lead morning prayers to foster a positive workplace culture.

- A degree in Theology or a related field.
- A valid Class 2 or 3 driver’s licence.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in ministry, pastoral care or related work.
- Experience conducting funeral or memorial services.
