Production Controller

Baker’s Inn Retail – Northern Region in Harare is looking for a Production Controller. The job is to organise, watch and manage everyday production activities to make operations efficient, get the best yield, produce accurate reports and keep the company compliant with internal and legal standards.

Job duties include:
1. Checking all machines and equipment are in good working order before each shift and sending defect reports to Maintenance.
2. Making sure utilities and enough raw materials are ready before production starts.
3. Holding pre‑shift meetings to share targets and operational priorities with the team.
4. Ensuring staff arrive on time, are in proper uniform and understand their assigned tasks.
5. Preparing GRVs for incoming raw materials and GNRs for returned items.
6. Tracking raw material use and matching it with expected output levels.
7. Confirming finished goods are transferred to Packing & Dispatch within set timeframes.
8. Creating and submitting daily production and waste reports to the Bakery Manager.
9. Watching yield performance and reducing the gap between target and actual output.
10. Keeping precise production records and documentation.
11. Enforcing clean‑as‑you‑go routines and proper end‑of‑shift cleaning.
12. Making sure the operation follows the Factories Act, Labour Act, Baking Industry CBA, recipe manuals and SOPs.
13. Spotting training needs and supporting performance appraisals together with HR.

Qualifications and experience needed:
- A diploma or degree in Baking Technology, Bakery Studies, Food Science or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or bakery production environment.
- Good knowledge of production planning, yield control, stock management and reporting systems.
- Working understanding of GMP and HACCP food‑safety standards.
- Familiarity with Zimbabwean labour laws and the Baking Industry CBA.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and basic production software systems.
