Legal Officer

The job is for two Legal Officer positions.

The incumbent will report to the Legal Manager.

Key purpose of the role is to deliver advisory services on legal, regulatory, and compliance matters to the business.

Principal duties include:
1. Acting for the organisation in legal affairs under the Legal Manager’s supervision.
2. Performing legal investigations, monitoring litigation cases, and collaborating with external attorneys.
3. Explaining legislation and creating legal judgments.
4. Ensuring the company follows regulatory requirements.
5. Giving legal guidance on agreements, tenders, and projects.
6. Reviewing legal issues and advising management accordingly.
7. Offering appropriate legal advice to various departments.
8. Guiding project or operational staff on contract matters.
9. Creating and applying procedures for contract handling and administration that meet legal standards.
10. Representing the organisation before regulatory and other relevant authorities in legal matters.

Qualifications and experience required:
- A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognised institution.
- At least 3 years of post-qualification experience that includes drafting legal documents, reviewing contracts, handling litigation, and interpreting statutes.
- Registration with the Law Society of Zimbabwe.
- Knowledge of commercial, criminal, and labour laws in Zimbabwe.

- Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Understanding and applying legal rules and regulations in work situations.
- Business awareness combined with a commitment to legality.
- Deep knowledge of contract and law principles.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and diplomatic abilities.
- Proficiency and confidence in English.
