Database Administrator

Role Overview
AFC Commercial Bank, a subsidiary of AFC Holdings, is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Database Administrator. Reporting to the ICT Operations Manager, the successful candidate will oversee the organisation’s databases, ensuring their security, reliability, performance, and overall stability.

Key Duties
• Install, configure, and maintain database systems.
• Perform database performance tuning and administration.
• Manage and control user access rights.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.
• Ensure high availability of database platforms.
• Implement strong database security measures.
• Conduct routine backups and manage recovery procedures.
• Safeguard data integrity.
• Plan for system and database capacity requirements.

Required Skills & Competencies
• Strong understanding of database administration concepts, procedures, and best practices.
• Oracle 19c certification or later versions.
• Ability to work efficiently under shifting priorities and tight deadlines.

Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or an equivalent field.
• Proven experience with Oracle RAC, ASM, RMAN, and Data Guard technologies.
• Familiarity with the IDC core banking system is an added advantage.
• Proficiency in SQL, Linux, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a banking ICT environment.
• Valid Class 4 Driver’s Licence.
