Key Skills and Competencies

Terre des Hommes Germany is seeking a Project Coordinator / Monitoring and Evaluation Consultant based in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. The consultant will serve as a technical expert for monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities across a multi-country initiative funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Project Title
Transregional and gender-specific strengthening of food security and resilient livelihoods in India and Zimbabwe
Role Overview
The consultant will coordinate MEAL systems, ensure alignment of project activities across countries, support adaptive programming, and strengthen evidence-based learning. Responsibilities include overseeing data collection, ensuring quality quantitative and qualitative analysis, documenting best practices, and supporting donor reporting in collaboration with programme teams.
Duty Station and Work Arrangement
Bulawayo, Zimbabwe
Hybrid arrangement combining office-based and remote work
Contract Type
36-month contract, renewable based on performance and project needs
Language Requirements
Fluency in English and Ndebele is required

Qualifications
A Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline, preferably in Social Sciences, Economics, or a related field
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
A minimum of six years’ experience in project coordination and monitoring and evaluation activities within an NGO, including at least three years working with major donors
Experience working with adolescents and youth in development programmes
Strong understanding of the Zimbabwean and Indian contexts, including relevant policies and legislation affecting adolescents and youth
Previous consultancy experience in similar projects
Experience designing tools and strategies for data collection, analysis, and reporting
Proven knowledge of quantitative and qualitative monitoring methodologies and experience designing monitoring instruments
Monitoring and Performance Management
Coordinate virtual and physical quarterly and annual review meetings with partners in both countries
Prepare periodic and annual review reports for the Country Coordinator and Regional M&E SPO
Provide technical support to project staff to ensure accurate and timely monitoring data collection
Track implementation of MEAL plans, including data collection, analysis, and documentation
Advise partners on monitoring, evaluation, and capacity-building needs
Conduct quarterly meetings with partners and submit reports to Country and Regional M&E SPOs
Carry out monitoring visits to project sites in Zimbabwe
Coordinate project review visits as agreed with implementing partners and TDH
Compile field monitoring trip and review reports
Develop simple dashboards and scorecards to track progress and performance trends and assist partners in their use
Impact Evaluation
Lead the design, piloting, and validation of both quantitative and qualitative evaluation tools
