MAGISTRATE POSITIONS X1 5 (JUDICIAL SERVICE COMMISSION)

The Judicial Service Commission is inviting applications from qualified and experienced individuals to fill 15 Magistrate positions located across Zimbabwe.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
A Magistrate will be responsible for:
a) Handling criminal matters, civil disputes, maintenance hearings, juvenile cases, and Small Claims Court matters.
b) Reviewing and determining the appropriateness of deposit fines.
c) Performing duties as a Marriage Officer.
d) Hearing appeals originating from Local Courts.
e) Inspecting prisons and holding cells in the role of visiting justice.
f) Leading investigations into unexplained deaths.
g) Supervising supporting staff.

• Must hold a recognised Law Degree.
• Must be a suitable and ethical candidate for judicial office.
During the selection process, the Commission will adhere to Section 184 of the Constitution, ensuring that judicial appointments reflect national diversity and gender representation.
